Finally the weekend! It's been a long week what with the little one being ill and all. I'm currently working on a new giant granny square blanket inspired by Cath Kidston. I love the Cath colour palette! I'm still on my quest to brighten up my new home and it's getting there! Yesterday I spent time jotting down some ideas for new hand embroidery tutorials and projects which I haven't done for awhile! I found I have lots of ideas for simple motif projects based on various stitches and so this is what I will be starting with and concentrating on over the next few weeks. I think it's not only important to show how to do a stitch but to show how you can use it too!

After completing my first crochet granny square blanket I thought I would have a go at creating a giant granny square blanket. My daughter who is five, loves to sing a rainbow, you know; red and yellow and pink and green etc. so I decided to make her a bright colourful blanket with all the colours from the song. It only took me a week to complete, which I think is pretty cool since I have only been crocheting for 5 months! Needless to say she loves it and it has been keeping her snug and warm on the sofa as she has been ill this past week. Thankfully she is on the mend and her rainbow blanket goes everywhere with her now!

Finished sewing up my first crochet granny square blanket! I actually made more squares than I needed, so I’ve decided to make two! I added a black four row border around the entire blanket to finish it off. This will definitely brighten up my front room! The actual finished size is roughly 42 inches wide x 62 inches long.
