A Frosty Morning

Today we had the first frost to reach our little part of Cornwall. The flower farmer's field was covered in a frosty white layer this morning and all the daffodils were drooping their golden heads. The weather so far this winter has been really mild and it is so unusual for us as we are used to the weather in West Yorkshire. I think for the first time since we moved to our beautiful 18th Century cottage I was wearing double layers when I took our Border Collie Benji for his morning walk.

The early morning light is so beautiful here in our little valley. The birds were up early whistling and chirping in the trees as I walked the wooded path with the leaves crunching beneath my feet.

It certainly set me up for the day! I have been busy carding the beautiful Ryeland sheep fleece I bought recently from a local producer just down the road from me in Sancreed. I have spent the morning making lovely batts on my drum carder ready to spin.
